VOLÁNBUSZ Zrt. and Credobus signed a framework purchase agreement for 200 suburban buses. Thanks to one of the largest procurement in recent years, passengers will soon be able to meet new buses across the country.

The winning type, Econell 12 is the most successful product of the Kravtex-Kühne Group located in Győr (HU) and Mosonmagyaróvár (HU). Through the agreement, the number of Credobus low-entry models in operation will exceed 1,500. This makes Econell one of the most common 19.5" wheel system bus families in Europe.

The frame structures and metal parts of the buses are manufactured in Mosonmagyaróvár, and the assembly takes place in the Group's bus factory in Győr. The Hungarian value share of the purchase price of the vehicles reaches 70-75 %. In addition to the self-supporting frame structure, the axles, some gearboxes, the windshields and side glasses, plastic covering elements, the plastic floor and hundreds of other parts are considered Hungarian products. Bus production ensures the preservation of about 500 Hungarian jobs at the Group.

Econell buses are made with a 19.5" wheel system and an optimized frame structure and main units. Thanks to the ultralight construction, their own weight is at least 1.5 tons lower than the market average. By reducing the weight, fuel consumption is reduced by 4,000 liters per bus per year. With the 200-unit fleet, VOLÁNBUSZ Zrt. will save approximately HUF 500 million (EUR 1.3 million) annually and reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 2,000 tons.

Every buses equipped with 43 passenger seats and are barrier-free for wheelchair users and for passengers with stroller. Their equipment includes high-performance air conditioning with both cooling and heating functions, as well as an audio-visual passenger information system. On-board comfort is enhanced by USB charging points and phone holders on the backs of the seats. Safety and vandalism prevention is ensured by a camera system installed at the factory.

The vehicles are expected to be taken over by the transport company in several stages by the end of 2023. The share of Credobuses in VOLÁNBUSZ's six thousand vehicles fleet already exceeds 40 %.
