47 articulated Credobuses for VOLÁNBUSZ
March 13, 2023, Győr, Mosonmagyaróvár (Hungary)
At the end of December, Credobus and Hungary's largest bus service provider, VOLÁNBUSZ Zrt., signed a sales contract for the delivery of a significant amount of 47 suburban articulated buses. This is the first order for the Econell 18 Next, the new articulated model of the Kravtex-Kühne Group, which produces Credobuses.
Thanks to the contract, Hungarian articulated bus production, which had been suspended for years, could be restarted. The first vehicles can enter the market as early as spring.
Credobus Econell 18 Next is the world's lightest articulated bus in the 18-meter category. Its own weight is at least 3 tons lower than the market average - only about 14 tons instead of the usual 17-18.
During the testing of the bus prototype at the transport company under high-traffic suburban conditions, the actual consumption was 15 - 20 % lower than the operating types.
The ultra-light construction makes it possible to save an average of more than 4,000 liters of fuel per year, worth more than 5,000 EUR per bus.
Thanks to the 19.5" axle configuration and the low-position powertrain installation, 90 % of the standing surface of the bus is located on the low-floor part, while it can transport 56 seated and 70 standing passengers (5 / sqm).
The strikingly designed Credobus Econell 18 Next is equipped with an environmentally friendly EURO 6 E engine, is air-conditioned, and is also equipped with a passenger information, passenger counter, and CCTV system. The seats have phone holders and USB charging points.
Not only the assembly of the buses but also the production of the parts takes place largely in Hungary: the self-supporting frame structure, the suspensions and metal parts are also made by Kühne, which belongs to the Group.
The main components come from leading European manufacturers such as FPT, ZF, Knorr-Bremse, Eberspächer and Continental.
The Econell Next family is available in midi, solo and articulated versions, with diesel and electric drive options. The electric solo model is expected to be introduced in 2023 and the articulated model in 2024.
VOLÁNBUSZ, which operates nearly 6,000 buses, is one of the largest European bus service providers with a fleet of vehicles. The company's fleet already has around 2,500 Credobuses.
